100 Dias
Ready to cross the South Atlantic?
We’re thrilled to be part of 100 Dias as one of the visual effects studios on the film. It’s inspired by the journey of Amyr Klink, the first person to row solo across the South Atlantic, from Lüderitz, Namibia, to Camaçari, Bahia, in 1984. Alone in a boat he designed himself, Amyr faces the ocean, fear and solitude. The film is directed by Carlos Saldanha, one of the biggest names in animation, the director behind Ice Age and Rio, and a two-time Oscar nominee. Being part of a film from him, telling such a deeply Brazilian story, moved and honored us.

Our greatest care went into the water. It had to have depth, transparency and reflections that responded to the light in every shot, looking natural and never artificial. With no locked concept for every scene, we had the freedom to define visual solutions, like the sky and the vastness of the sea, based on what each shot needed. Among the highlights are the shark scenes, the dolphin sequence and the bioluminescence shots, which call for convincing water and an animal that truly looks like it’s swimming there.
It all serves one simple idea. When the audience believes Amyr is truly alone out at sea, the crossing earns the emotion it deserves. Our job was to help build that belief, alongside the other studios who also worked on the film’s visual effects, and whom we thank for the partnership.
100 Dias is distributed in Brazil by Buena Vista International (Disney).
