League of Legends Viktor

Evolution awaits. Glorious and inevitable. Once again, we’ve partnered with Riot Games to unveil a League of Legends Champion Update. Inspired by the incredible Arcane series, Viktor returns with refreshed visuals and a powerful adjusted ultimate.

The entire process was truly inspiring, especially since our team are fans of the League of Legends universe. One of the biggest challenges of this project was faithfully bringing Viktor's characterization from Arcane into the trailer for LoL. We also took great care in conveying all the drama and conflict the characters experience in the Netflix series.

The purpose here is to give insight into Viktor's logic, thoughts, and words. Our team had to translate all this into the look development while the character reflected on his goals for humanity. We also worked on the pacing of the video: Viktor's tone builds gradually throughout the trailer, starting with a visually introspective mood and ending with a cold, emotionless declaration.

During execution, we used advanced simulation techniques to realistically recreate water, smoke, and other dynamic elements for this project. We also incorporated matte painting for the constellations and scenery, 2D animation for lightning effects, and 3D simulation in Houdini to bring movement to the cape and waves in the water.
